Post WANTED: Non-Fiction Suggestions of FREE Books for Group Discussion
WANTED: Non-Fiction Suggestions of FREE Books for Group Discussion

Many of us have expressed an interest in periodically reading and discussing books that are available online absolutely FREE. So this thread is an effort to generate a small list of FREE online NON-FICTION books that we can read and talk about together. Once we've generated enough suggestions we'll do a poll and select one or two winners.

Please post your suggestions in this thread and include a link to where your non-fiction book suggestion can be read in its entirety online for free. If you can't find a free version of the book please withhold the suggestion till you're able to provide that crucial element.

Your suggestion will hold more weight if you explain why you're making the suggestion. And your suggestion will certainly hold more weight if your suggestion isn't too massive or difficult to read.

Since this will be a FREE book nobody has to order a physical copy. There is no delay while we wait for an ordered book to ship to us. There is no way to tell when this particular discussion period will start and end because we don't yet know how many people are interested in participating. We also don't know who will make suggestions and how long it will take to generate enough suggestions to do a poll. So just go search for books and come back here and share the good ones with us. We'll hopefully get to the point where we're ready to pick one soon.

Suzanne suggested 'Prince' by Machiavelli.
I would like to read Travels in the Centre of Africa by Mungo Park.
Any other suggestions?
I also downloaded What is Man? and other essays by Mark Twain, but no idea what it's like. Here is a link for essays

Suzanne - seems like its only you and me. I'll read Prince if you want. Or do you want to wait till more people are interested?

Post Re: WANTED: Non-Fiction Suggestions of FREE Books for Group Discussion
Greetings,
I have a non-fiction book for everybody to check out. It is a topical Bible study book written in everyday language so any reader can look it up and verify it for themselves. Simply send an email mentioning Booktalk.org and requesting an e-copy of "The Bible I Thought I Knew" to:
liestoldme@comcast.net

We will send a free copy to you for review and discussion in non-fiction forum, Booktalk.org (a $15.00 value). You will be shocked to discover that Elijah was not taken away on a chariot of fire, Delilah did not cut Samson's hair, Abraham had more than two children, the Israelites had more to eat in the wilderness than manna, there is nothing about a seven year tribulation in the Bible and Jesus did not carry the cross. This book dispels some of the folklore, confusion and false teachings associated with the Bible and you are sure to find some surprises compared to what you were told in church.
Looking forward to sending your copy...
Peter B

Thank you for the kind offer, Peter. We have quite a few people here that know the Bible very well but not from the perspective of a believer.

LOL Please don't start another one yet. I'm interested in all of them and can barely keep up with what's going on right now.

You're probably right, lindad_amato. We have quite a few book discussions running right now.

But it is a good thing to have this thread open. Maybe we can start a new non-fiction around April 1st.

Post Re: WANTED: Non-Fiction Suggestions of FREE Books for Group Discussion
Hello - I wrote a book recently and I would be willing to email it to anyone if they wanted to read and then partake in a discussion? It relates to our current political climate and my thoughts on how we can get the middle class back to work and such.

Just a thought, let me know what you think. You can probably read a sample here....
