Oh, Penelope! Penelope, Penelope, Penelope!
Posting your work, whether it be your prose or your poetry, isn't about it "passing muster." No decent person is going to single you out if they don't appreciate your work. It is my hope that the ones that are engaged by it and enjoy it will tell you so. In short, my idea behind posting poetry is much the same as it is posting book reviews or political commentary, or anything else that you can do on Booktalk.
Come on, I dare you...
I'm headed over to poetry right now to post something. Maybe I can convince you to dig up something and share it with us.

Seen tonight on Dutch TV. a little game-You look in your bookcase and take the titles of three books that are arranged underneath each other and see if the titles make something poetic. Just done one of my bookcases and got -'The Phantom of the Temple' 'A Walk among the Tombstones' and 'Happy Days'.
My apologies to Chris -if it's a bit difficult to understand ! J. |

Have a great holiday Jay!! - Where in Italy? We toured around Italy last year - East Coast then across to Naples, Pompeii and Rome and drove up from there through France. It was very hot and very thunder stormy.
The Italians were the most pleasant and kind people - because we were a couple of old dodderers who kept getting lost and bumbling into all kinds of trouble. Chugging along in our old Peugot pulling our titchy caravan. We really got in the way....but how many times did people honk their horns at us? None.....they were just lovely and helped us. |

Penelopy it's a little village -in the Abruzzi mountains on the edge of the Park where Wolves a Bear and Deer abound -I've never seen 'em.
She {who must be obeyed} has a tiny house there. 2 weeks is all I can stand. No TV. No PC. But lovely scenery and cheap wine. Ancora Ciao. |

Isn't it odd Jaywalker? - Abruzzo is where we stayed - well it was Martin Securo where we parked our van. Not the prettiest of places but we got out and about all the time (in the thunderstorms).
I really am envious. Kiss all the Italians for me....no, perhaps you had better restrain yourself!!!
It's jolly good wine from that region though....we still have a bottle or two left. |

I have a suggestion for a contest:
what about a nature description.
I just like reading descriptions of different natural areas and I think it's fun writing something like that. |

Thank you Ayemea - that is a Good Idea!!!
What about a piece of subjective writing on this theme and a piece of objective writing:-
That would be a really interesting exercise - don't we think? |

Chris, Chris, Chris....I have just had a great idea for a Contest!!!
What about we all write our own epitaphs.
What do you want to be inscribed on your Tombstone?
For instance:-
Omar Kaayam (whom I do commend to you Chris and Mr. P)
Had as his epitaph:-
If I this life upon a looser creed
Did loosely thread the jewel of good deed
This One thing for my antonement plead...
That one for two, I never did misread,,,
Spike Milligan had:-
See, I told you I was Ill!!!
Two young boys who died on a school outing had as their epitaph a well-known line from an old bizarre comedy series...Monty Python's Flying Circus...Google it if you haven't heard of it.
Their epitaph was:-
And now for something completely different!!!!
What would you have for your epitaph???? |
