NC- XIV- No Country and Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurtry.

Both novels take place in Texas, and have common points, as well as huge differences, with westerns.

I am not particularly fond of westerns, but Lonesome Dove is one of my favourite novels. It's a crazy western that tells so much.

Like No Country, Lonesome Dove is a male world. Male writer, stubborn male characters (I remember three women in LD though, two being prostitutes), lots of killings, laconic dialogue...

Does anybody want to copmpare and contrast the two novels?

Lonesome Dove was a great story - I loved the TV show - I've never read through the book.

I don't identify this book with LD though.
