Exchange and Loan Kindle Books on BookTalk.org
Are you aware that Amazon.com has recently begun to allow Kindle owners to loan their Kindle books to friends? Well, it's true and Kindle lovers have to be pretty excited about this new feature.
We're going to soon have a new forum on BookTalk.org devoted to loaning each other our Kindle eBooks. Members can list the books they're willing to lend and browse through the lists of books other members are offering on loan.

Re: Exchange and Loan Kindle Books on BookTalk.org
I just found a site that allows the borrowing and lending of Kindle eBooks for free. Check this out and let me know your thoughts. http://booklending.com/
Do we need a forum on BookTalk.org for this? Would there be an advantage to having a forum here where members can borrow and loan their eBooks to each other vs. use an off-site service such as BookLending.com?

I don't have a Kindle, but I'm planning to get one probably the next time it's updated.
Since apparently you can only loan a Kindle book once, it might be worth trying out a forum where you could lend to fellow members. You could always get rid of it if there is lack of interest.

Oh, I didn't know you could only loan a Kindle book once. That certainly does make a forum devoted to borrowing and loaning eBooks between members more appealing. Also, our forum could also be a place where we suggest good eBooks.

No, loaning is not only once, each book has its own policies. Some books cannot be loaned, some only once or a few times, and others you can loan till you bleed out your eyes. If you care, read the information on the book's page on amazon. As far as should we have a forum here, I STRONGLY agree we SHOULD! Sorry, so psyched that you'll possibly have that here. I've tried the other sites and honestly, I think this is a much better format and forum for that sort of activity.
Dexter: Don't hesitate to get a kindle, it's wonderful and there are plenty of reasonably priced books online, not to mention plenty are free and many go on sale, I was able to get Water for Elephants and also Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet for 5 dollars apiece. I've seen plenty of other recent, popular books go on sale as well. Look more closely into it and you'll find it's not as pricey or restrictive as some people have been led to believe.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Pegasus796. I didn't realize the terms were different for each book, but now that I think about it it makes sense. Each author and publisher probably has to agree to the loaning terms. That would only be fair.
Yes, we'll do the forum soon. I have a few "to do" items in front of this project but we might have the new forum up within a week.

I'm sorry I haven't been around very much these days, my daughter is visiting from AK, school starts Monday and I still work 50-70 hours a week. Not to mention the boyfriend....bike riding.......lego building...reading actual books.....grandkids.... gardening......Where DO the days go?

Is there any further news about a lending service being introduced on BookTalk.org. I have just borrowed my first book from the site listed above and I'm sure it would be a good idea to start it here.

This idea is temporarily being postponed. We're upgrading the entire site right now and that is taking all of our time and resources. As soon as the site is launched other projects, such as a Kindle/Nook forum, can be addressed.
