Hi folks.
My name is Xander Richards. I'm a voracious reader when time allows and soon to be a published author (but this isn't the place to get into that). I love Sci-Fi novels: Asimov, Clarke ('Rendezvous With Rama' is an all-time favorite) and so on. I'm also very keen on espionage and action stuff like Fleming, Clancy, Cussler (loved 'Raise The Titanic') and MacLean (especially 'Ice Station Zebra'). I also read and thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter series. I love a good novel which really sucks you in and makes you feel like you're there.
I live slap-bang in the center of Canada, which being the province of Saskatchewan where, at the moment, it's raining.
Well, that's all for now, hope to make some friends here. Feel free to say "hi" back and chat.
Cheers,
Xander.

...and it's snowing in Gatineau, Quebec. Just had to respond to your reference to the weather - a favourite Canadian topic! It does feel a bit strange after spending four days in the mid eighties Fahrenheit just last week.
Anyway, welcome to the site. You will find many interesting and friendly people who share your interest in books.
Sorry, but I will have to correct you on your "slap-bang centre of Canada" comment. While working in Arviat, Nunavut some years ago, I was often reminded by friends in Rankin Inlet, a neighbouring community, that they hold the distinction of living in the true geographical centre of Canada

Hi LevV
Thank you for your kind welcome, I appreciate it.
Cheers,
Xander.
Thank you for your kind welcome, I appreciate it.
Yes we had the most peculiarly mild winter here in Saskatchewan. Only a few days of the -30°s and little snow. But, thank God, the rains signal the arrival of prairie summer and I'm so looking forward to getting out and about.LevV wrote:It does feel a bit strange after spending four days in the mid eighties Fahrenheit just last week.
I stand firmly corrected! Thank you.LevV wrote:Sorry, but I will have to correct you on your "slap-bang centre of Canada" comment.

It's not raining at the top of Virginia, but I wish it would. It's been a dry spring, which often goes unnoticed because of the cooler temps. We were in Shenandoah Nat'l park today, and the streams coming off the mountains have barely any flow.

Well, it is raining in Northern Virginia now. Silly me, I chalked poetry on the sidewalks over at the High School in celebration of National Poetry Month - now it is all runny and washed away.DWill wrote:It's not raining at the top of Virginia, but I wish it would. Re: It's raining on the Candian prairies
I sure did and plan to do more during this month. In the USA April is National Poetry Month. For the past several years (last year excepted) I've been chalking poetry in public places during April.oblivion wrote:You chalked poems on the sidewalks????? Good for you!
