New Kid on the BookTalk.org Block

Hello, People.
I'm an avid reader of the female variety who lives south of the Mason-Dixon line in the U.S. I found BookTalk.org Googling for an online book club/discussion group. How delightful to find such a wonderful organization.
Once upon a yesterday, I read fiction, fiction, and more fiction -- mysteries and sci-fi. However, my life has changed rather dramatically over the previous six years (during which time my reading diet consisted almost exclusively of professional "stuff"). Now that I have returned to a more balanced life style, I seem to have an appetite for non-fiction: political, cultural, neurobiology, and house/garden handyman print.
Special interests include traveling (Europe, the South Pacific, etc.), gardening, and -- new interest -- figuring out how I can live on a beer budget when I still obviously have champagne tastes.
I look forward to participating in some stimulating discussions!
