Would anyone like to be a discussion leader for this book? It would be great if we could have two discussion leaders. Post here if you'd like to take on that role.

Not a single member wants to take the lead for this book discussion? These are the members that voted for Ender's Game:ginof 3 votesmisterpessimistic 3 votesJeremy1952 3 votesTotal votes = 9These are the members that have made 1 or more posts in the actual discussion forum:riverc0ilmisterpessimisticMadArchitectpctacitusGreg NeumantaravMurray GrahamGinof and Jeremy both cast 3 votes for the book and are not involed as of yet. For whatever reason it looks like I didn't even cast my vote for a book in the fiction book poll.

I emailed Gino and Jeremy and they both said they plan to start participating soon.

Just thought I'd point out that Mr. P is currently doing all of the sorts of things that a discussion leader would normally do. He's basically doing all the work without taking the credit.

Thanks Mad. I was going to volunteer to lead the discussion...but a part of my is shying away. Maybe there is too much percieved responsibility. I know there is nothing to it, but due to my time constraints I did not want to commit.Maybe others feel this way too.Anyway...you can put me down as leader if you like Chris.Mr. P. The one thing of which I am positive is that there is much of which to be negative - Mr. P.Once you perceive the irrevocable truth, you can no longer justify the irrational denial. - Mr. P.The pain in hell has two sides. The way I see it, you're basically doing everything that a discussion leader should do. But there does seem to be the perception that there's a lot to the job. Maybe the word "leader" is daunting. The job really doesn't involve anything more than stoking the fires every once in a while, so maybe we should call it "discussion demon" instead.

Any idea of a better term? I'm open to suggestions.

I think the term is fine in the end...no matter what you do, when you single someone out, there are perceived responsibilities that may not necessarily be there. How about doing a post that you can copy and paste spelling out what is expected of a leader?I mean...I led 4 discussions I think and I STILL did not volunteer because I thought it would be too much on me...and I knew better.Mr. P. The one thing of which I am positive is that there is much of which to be negative - Mr. P.Once you perceive the irrevocable truth, you can no longer justify the irrational denial. - Mr. P.The pain in hell has two sides. A brief description of what the title entails would probably be helpful -- one you could paste into the announcement post whenever a new book is chosen. Demystify the job and I think it'll be easier to get people to volunteer for it.You might emphasize that there's really hardly any way to screw it up. In most cases, the worst that could happen is exactly what would happen if there were no discussion leader -- nothing. And that's hardly the discussion leader's fault.
