Wow, now I know I am behind the times (behind perhaps, but still curious) so ... what on earth is a "kindle" ?

That is a kindle. Actually it's really the 3rd Gen Kindle. It's the model me and the Mrs share, mines coming soon.

Their uber great, we've had ours for about 6 weeks now and me nor the Mrs will complain about a single thing.

Books are delivered to your Kindle wirelessly (if your within wifi with the wifi only model and nationwide if you choose the 3g model). BTW, to use the 3g is free but the wifi+3g model is more expensive than the wifi only model.

Plus, Amazon has so many books you can get that if you got even just half of what is available now you would prob be reading for life.

We've over 500 books on ours and it's not even close to half full yet :D

My fav bell or whistle is the built in dictionary, I read a lot of books from the 18th century and if you run across a word you don't know you just highlight it and a definition pops up.

Sorry to go on so much but I havent really had a chance to share my love of the Kindle with anyone but my wife, they really are wonderful.
