7.) World War Z by Max Brooks
8.) The World Without Us by Alan Weisman (Note: this is nonfiction.)
9.) The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham

So, what do you all think? Do you like or really hate any of the books on this list? What are some of your favorite (post) apocalyptic books?

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
Personally, "Y: The Last Man" is my all-time favorite comic series. "The Walking Dead" is also a good (and still ongoing, right?) comic series and is now a TV show on AMC.
"World War Z" is good; I also like the audio version. Unfortunately it doesn't have all of the book, but the fact that Alan Alda and Mark Hamill do voices on it makes up for that.
The Novels of the Change by SM Stirling is an amazing series, though it's more fantasy than post-apocalyptic by this point... the latest book is the 8th in the series, I think.
"The Last Shore" is another good one, but a bit slow-moving. My all-time favorite, however, is "The Last Ship," which is kind of hard to find. I got mine off of Amazon but it came with no jacket!
I could go on and on about this topic...

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
I'm not much of a post-apocalyptic genre fan, I guess, because I've only read 3 of these books, Leibowitz, Triffids and now The Road. Of these three, my personal favourite is definitely Day of the Triffids. I really liked Wyndham's style. From this limited experience, I do see some cross-over between post-apocalyptic and sci-fi genres, actually there was a comparison made elsewhere in this discussion between The Road and the Left Hand of Darkness, which is more of the sci-fi ilk but certainly has that peril and post-apocalyptic feel to it.

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
I haven't read many on that list either other than The Road and The Day of the Triffids which was one that has stuck with me from my teenage years along with The Chrysalids, which I did not realize until years later was by the same author or that it was part of a trilogy of a sort. Another book that comes to mind when I think of the The Road, is Blindness.

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
Yay John Wyndham. The Chrysalids is more post-apocalyptic, while Day of the Triffids seems more about the event of the apocalypse.
