Not only is this interview extremely powerful, it gave me more insight to why Grass writes the way he does. Now I'm going to have to re-read Too Far Afield. ;-)

This should be required viewing for all Americans considering our current political climate. We must NEVER stop questioning our leaders, all of them.

What I've been looking for since I first read The Tin Drum is a way to decode the fairytale allusions, so I may lurk around this archive when I am ready to reread my Vintage edition. This novel is one of the few great masterpieces of the genre.
