Re: Who's in?
I am in! I have started re-reading and am on chapter three. I read it and enjoyed it many years ago and am happy to read it again along with BookTalk members. In fact, I think there are some posts in reference to this book in our science forum. I will go search there and bump any relevant threads.

Yup, just not yet. I'm without proper net access. Now I haven't read the book itself, so I'm going off the cover blurb, but it makes reference to humans sharing 98% of their genotype with chimps. Recent evidence suggests that this actually more like 96% if my memory suggests. I'll post on this at a later date, when I've decent net access. Full of Porn*http://plainofpillars.blogspot.com

Re: Who's in?
Seems the concensus is still the same though...the similarities are far more interesting than the differences. And Diamond wrote this before the genomes were sequenced no? And to be that close...Quote:A comparison of Clint's genetic blueprints with that of the human genome shows that our closest living relatives share 96 percent of our DNA. The number of genetic differences between humans and chimps is ten times smaller than that between mice and rats. Amazing. Mr. P. Mr. P's place. I'm in
I bought the book this week, before I knew about this site. I am interested in the development of our human society from its animal roots and the existence of our animal roots in our (current) predicament.I have never tried this before and am looking forward to seeing what develops.secretions.net
