Final thoughts on De Waal?

Unread post

I wondered if, after the chat with Frans de Waal or after reading the book, anyone had any summary thoughts to offer. Primates and Philosophers, and our discussion with de Waal, too, seemed to display a sharp contrast between a scientific or descriptive approach to human behavior and an idealist or prescriptive approach. The idealist approach in the chat was provided by Robert Tulip, so thanks Robert for engaging de Waal on this.

I found that both the conversation with live chat and parts of the book i was able to read gave me a new perspective of life. Frans de Waal is a great philosopher/scientist if he got my attention when i was reading a chat transcript! ;)
