Theodosia

Unread post

I just finished the first Theodosia book, Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R.L. LaFevers. It was surprisingly good and not terribly racist, which is hard to do in children's literature. Children's books often make generalizations about people from other countries because don't want an in depth look at people from other countries. They just want the story. LaFevers did a good job of allowing for people of other countries and even from the main 'good' country (England) to be both good and evil indiscriminately. I found that refreshing and enjoyed a story where the child didn't hate her parents, another trope often found in children's books. All together, it was a good read and I enjoyed it immensely. :D
