View the movie of "The Tin Drum". Clips available will give an image of Oskar, his drum and the power of his ear shattering voice.

Oksar's voice and his drum propells this novel and creates the magical realism that will leave the readers of "The Tin Drum" spell bound.

Thanks for this post, Suzanne. I watch it and several others. The director of the German cut seems to have been able to bring Grass' humor into the film nicely.

Technically and stylistically, The Tin Drum is an astounding work. Thematically, it strives for an importance it only sometimes achieves

Kaye,
Have you read the book? We read it here for our last fiction selection. I couldn't drum up much sympathy for the protagonist.
