The Legend of the Seeker
Have any of you watched the TV series, "The Legend of the Seeker?" It is a work of art and I can't believe it isn't getting more media attention. It's based on Terry Goodkind's fantasy books.

I've seen a few of these episodes.
I like the actress they got for Kahlan, Richard seems way too young, and small, and Zed is a giant.
Otherwise i think they are taking a good path in loosely following the plot of the first book, slowing progressing through major plot points in the novel, hopefully to finish the first novel and move on.
That seems unlikely though, as he would end up ruler of D'hara and there would see to be less oportunity for harmless side adventures as have been used so far.
They got me a few times. I would watch a story and wonder if it had actually happened in the book, or if it was just something that could have happened in book.
Naturally, many of the more adult themes have been toned down or eliminated, but i don't begrudge them that.
I stopped watching, though, when they brought the Mord-sith back to life, what was her name, Denna?

I have to admit the women in The Legend of the Seeker are absolutely scrumptious. Kahlan is gorgeous as was the chick in the tight blood-red leather outfit. I believe that is who you're talking about - Lord Sith?

Yes, Mord-Sith.
There are a bunch of them. Darken Rahl tortured them as children and bound them to their Agi'el (sp?) The red tube of leather that delivers the pain.
Have you read the books?
They are pretty good, though i find he breaks his own rules now and then. There is more than a whif of P.I.S. (plot induced stupidity) but the over-arching story compensates nicely.
He has stated that he is less of a world builder. It's a bit like a trekkie arguing about the specs of the teleporter with Shatner, but i guess, to an extent, i am that guy.
In later books i find Goodkind's ability to cover arguments from all possible angles impressive. In particular he puts advocates in defence of J'gang's army up against Zed, or Richard, and both sides argue convincingy for their stance. This can sometiems be cumbersome, but it (to me) is one of his strongest writing techniques.

I own a few of Terry Goodkind's books but have to admit to not reading any yet. Years ago I went on a rampage and bought tons of fantasy books from garage sales, but some have not even been opened. Wizard's First Rule was an audio book on cassette, but I recently threw it out. This damn book required a special adapter to listen to it. Quite annoying. Every time I picked it up I was reminded that I couldn't listen to it.

Gah!
I have to say that the TV show drives me mad everytime I think about associating it with the books. As a stand alone show, it works ok.
However, when you compare it with the books, it comes out sorely lacking, in my humble opinion. They toned it down way too much. They doctored too much of the plot when it didn't need it. They went to a lot of work to make a good book into a bad version of itself if you ask me.
Yet, as a stand alone show, it does work and can be entertaining.
