Cool Topic
My Life Without Me comes to mind. I saw it at a travelling film festival about four years ago and it's stuck with me ever since. It's about a young mother who finds out that she's dying of cancer and doesn't tell anybody. Instead she sets out to make a series of tape recordings for her daughters as they grow up. It's heartwrenching but it also has some very beautiful moments.
A few other favourites would be One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, Crash, Magnolia, Memento, American Beauty, Hotel Rwanda and Donnie Darko. I love independant films because they usually present such a different perspective in the way that stories are told. |

| Amelie is a gorgeous film, I agree. Not sure if this is indie but "Spring Forward" with Liev Schreiber and Ned Beattie was a small but incredible flick... a quiet understated story with two very cool guys swapping life philosophies and becoming better people for it. |
