Re: The End Is Near: Is 2012 Truly the Day When the World Will End?
Hi Landroid, no, I don't care about Camping, it is just that Tat Tvam Asi asked me to join that discussion, and we got going about how to possibly interpret Biblical predictions in a scientific way. No voodoo math I promise.

OK, I'm glad you aren't taking Camping too seriously...
HEY! Isn't there a calendar on Book Talk where we could log these end of the world predictions? We have two end o' world dates coming up in the next 2.5 years - 'twould be nice to be reminded the day before in order to be prepared, t'wouldn't it?... Since I can't find the BookTalk calendar, I entered the two dates into my personal Yahoo calendar and told it to remind me the day before. Hope that's enough warning to set up a MONSTER party!

I'm not so sure that telling everyone that visits BookTalk when the world could end. That might cause some paranoia.

t'wouldn't it? Are you out of your mind?!
Adding a t' is just t'weird.

The calendar isn't currently installed because we just didn't need it. The only thing we used it for was showing when the weekly casual chats were scheduled and nobody seems to attend those these days. Anyone see a reason to have the calendar back?

Jean Claude Vandam.
Many action movies in the 90's in which he would beat a bunch of jobbers senseless, then face off with a boss bad guy.
This boss bad guy would spend about three minutes strait just punching JC Vandam in the face, then there would be some kind of revelation that inspired JC Vandam to turn the fight around, then it was jumping splits kick, splits kick, splits kick, slow-motion splits punch to the gonads. JC Vandam ftw.

NO, I hardly think so. Obviously anything is possible. According to Indian data the kali Yug started 5000 years ago, and so we have 100,000s of years to go before the begining of a completely Pure period. According to deep religious knowledge of various countries, those who are conscious of purity live in paradise mentally and emotionally always, regardless of their physical situation. So in this case it becomes irrelevant. According to Zachariah Sitchin the aliens do have a say in our world. According to caltech (University scientific in United States) they have discovered a planet orbiting our solar system, unbenounced to them it matches the Zacharaiah Sitchin's planet. The orbit of the planet is, if I remember correctly 3600 years. therefore the orbit of this planet is even more in age than what Sitchin proposed. Soit strengthens Sithcin's perspective of a planet traveling far beyond our solar system , where an alien species travel on and make priodic appearances to our world radically changing it every so many thousands of years.

Re: The End Is Near: Is 2012 Truly the Day When the World Will End?
Just watched two shows on National Geographic about Wayne Bent AKA Michael Travesser who believes he is the Messiah and predicted the end of the world on 10/31/07. He is now spending 10 years in jail for sex improprieties with minors.
As to a BookTalk calendar, I suppose it could be used to show exactly when book votes start & end, the weekly chat schedule, times for author chats, time periods for special votes & contests, and of course predictions for the end of the world !
And as for 'twould and 'twouldn't - sorry, I was just being goofy...

Yes, Chris, please a calendar. When are polls open for voting? Ofcourse the end of the world--- have to stock up on foodstuff ( can get water from our creek) and batteries so we can communicate with anyone left, (except those dressed in period costumes)

How about death by a large asteroid? They don't emit any light of their own, so they aren't the easiest things to find in space. Scientists have only begun to discuss possibly averting that disaster, but they also have no funding for an emergency asteroid deflection project. The Earth being over 3/4th water would make it likely we'd go out in one hell of a tsunami. Other than that, I'd put my money on climate change.
