Here's a question for indie or whoever controls these things. I notice that when I'm logged on and look at one of my posts, I see my sig lines. When I'm not logged on and look at one of my posts, the sig lines disappear.
Does this mean I'm the only one who sees the sig lines? If so, that would seem a bit self-defeating. Or is it the case that only people who are logged in get to seem them and those who are just browsing don't?

Maybe we can all see the sig when logged in and not when logged out. I see your blatant self-promoting sig George!

OK. That answers that! I see now that I should probably have posted this to the Help Desk forum.
As for the "blatant self-promoting" -- is there any other kind?

Signatures only appear to people logged into their account. But everyone logged into an account can see all signatures.
This is a special mod added to enhance "SEO" or search engine optimization. You may notice that plenty of features and links are not visible when you are not logged in. The reason is because search engine "spiders" never actually log in, so what the site looks like to logged in members is not important at all. The important thing is how the site looks when you're not logged in. We don't want the spiders seeing all sorts of links in signatures. And the unrelated text in signatures confuses the spiders into thinking our site is about things it is not about. I hope this makes sense. |

OK. That answers the question.
Thanks,

Blatant self-promoting is welcome around here. As long as someone is an actual active member they should feel welcome to draw attention to their sites and books and whatever else they desire to draw attention too. God only knows how hard it is to market yourself. |
