Thank you for the cash donations Rolf, Jeremy, Hypatiasm and Misterpessimistic!

I sincerely appreciate your help with some of the costs of running this community. As you know ezboard charges about $60 every 6-months for "Gold Community" status.

Being a Gold Community means we have many extra features available that free communities don't enjoy AND we don't have to endure the pop-up ads that ezboard throws at free communities every few seconds. To me the lack of pop-up ads is the major benefit. Some of us spend quite a bit of time on BookTalk, and pop-ups would seriously be distracting.

To all BookTalk members

If you enjoy BookTalk and feel we serve a valuable function to the world please consider helping out a little with some of the costs associated with marketing and maintaining this site. If you're broke skip this message. I know the feeling and don't want anyone to feel obligated to donate. BookTalk is free and always will be free.

But if you have the means to help and think helping would do this world some good - please do so. Eventually we will become a not-for-profit organization and will seek a grant to help with advertising BookTalk to the entire freethinker and humanist world. But right now the full weight of the costs is on my shoulders, so it means a great deal to me when I see some of you reaching into your pockets to help. Obviously you feel BookTalk is a worthy cause.

My goals are lofty, but with time and proper planning we can make them a reality. I'd really like to see us with 1000 total members and over 100 average daily posts. And I'd like to hit this goal by the end of 2006.

In order to make this dream a reality we'll need to advertise in every way possible. We've got a yearlong ad starting in November in the Mensa Bulletin. More ads are needed so please step up to the plate and donate if you can. Suggestions on where and when to advertise are also always appreciated.

I need to edit the list of people that have recently donated to BookTalk. In addition to receiving cash donations from Rolf, Jeremy, Hypatiasm, and Misterpessimistic, we have now received a donation from 0Lion0Eyes0 and one anonymous donor.

I have no idea who the anonymous donor was, but I want to sincerely thank all of you for your generosity. We're only $20 short of the $65 we need to renew our Gold membership. Being a Gold Community means we don't have to deal with annoying pop-up ads. We also have many extra features not available for free communities. So thank you for your help guys.
