Hi All,
I wanted to share with you my project (covering both technology/internet as well as books/literature) which was just launched 2 hours ago. Here' my first press release i will send out today. I would appreciate your comments on both the project and the article itself ///quote/// There was a time…there was a time when book readers and book lovers were held hostage of publishers and authors choices. There was a time when the only choice readers had was to buy or not to buy a book. This choice may have been guided by the quality or concept portrayed by the book, by the author’s fame and best sellers track record, perhaps by the publisher history of literature success. And then…light came shining in. All of the sudden, readers were given a choice to choose the important aspects of a book’s story and let the author develop them into a Best Seller. Readers instantly became a part of literature history. They became the drivers, the muse, and the inspiration behind incredible literature masterpieces. Shortly thereafter, readers further took matters into their own hands: without fear, they took ownership of the authorship selection. They started deciding who shall have the honor to entertain them, to tell them stories, to make them feel, to make them dream…they started deciding who should write their next favorite book. “The Book Without a Story” ( http://www.thebookwithoutastory.com/howItWorks.php ) is a new socially-driven Literature project that gives control over a book’s story to its reader while at the same time sparking up the writing career of an unpublished author by exposing and broadcasting his/her talent to the literature community. This project was launched to support the crowd-funding of a currently-under-development social startup that focuses privacy and content control while striking a new balance between "network" and "community" This literature project brings a very interesting spin to the creative process of book writing as well as to the process of selecting the author of a book. Its social approach to both these issues is as innovative as it is heart-warming and entertaining to be a part of. “Let’s flip it over and give full control to the readers. And since we’re at it, let’s not stop at just cheering for the underdog: let’s actually support the underdog in the journey towards leadership” This is the founder’s quote that best summarizes the essence of this literature project: when you pre-buy a copy of “The Book Without a Story”, you can cast your vote on several aspects of the yet-to-be-written book: settings, genre, characters, plot devices, events, conflict types, narrator style and much more. This gives you and fellow readers the control over what the book will be all about. The most-voted answers will be used by the author of “The Book Without a Story” as building pillars for the story, putting his/her creativity and writing skills to the test. What is even more interesting is the author selection process adopted by this project: only unpublished authors can apply for the authorship of the book and when they do so, they must provide a summary of their vision for “The Book Without a Story” based on the readers-selected story pillars. The authorship of the book (and its $100,000 writing contract!) will be awarded through a social contest whereas readers can cast their vote for their favorite author. The project needs to pre-sell 250,000 copies by the end of 2012 in order to initiate the author selection process. Yet, this target seems easily achievable as the premise of the project is interesting, social in nature, fair and fun in its approach to all parties involved and most of all…it’s a dream factory: book readers will get their hands on a piece of literature that with high probability will be unusual and first-of-its-kind, and by doing so they will be helping somebody else’s dreams come true; an unpublished author will get the chance to start his writing career with possibly the authorship of a best-seller while earning his first writing contract and finally, a young entrepreneur will raise the funds needed to continue developing his startup project. ///unquote/// Any comments on this project and on the article? |
