Hmm... it seems I lent my copy away! So I'm not certain which translation I have. I'll let you know which it is when I recover it (sometime before Sept 1). :)

I'm interested in joining this discussion but I have to buy the book and get it before Sept 1 ... can someone advise whether or not the Amazon version posted here is the Mannheim translation? if not, any advice on best and quickest way to buy the book online?

Me too on having to get the book. I don't know if I will buy or borrow the book from the library, but the translation is usually listed prominently.

Here is an interesting interview with Gunter Grass. Over the next few days I will be adding more information about Gunter Grass and "The Tin Drum". This information should wet our appetites for the discussion. It's always nice to know a bit about the author before reading the book.
