When I had my novel published, I sent a free copy to several of our overseas service personnel vis the AnySoldier program http://www.anysoldier.com They really appreciate the contact. You should not expect any quick replies or some sudden surge in sales. That is not the purpose of the action. However, I have received several nice thank-you cards for contacting them, wishing them well and some even had really nice compliments my book, all of which made me feel pretty good.
