 Seizure of Tabooland
What do I name, my flesh or my mind? I am Joe, and this is the story of my seizure in Tabooland. Years have past since the episode and it isn’t so much forgotten as it is rendered into a dream. It haunts me randomly, especially and unfortunately when my soul is worn out. I’d just lain down, with THC in my system and a memo pad on my nightstand. Jotting down the sacred thoughts that only come during altered reality sessions is the only way to remember them. Weed shrivels your memory the same as cold water steals your breath. Great thoughts that you can’t remember; that’s Murphy’s Law of Marijuana.
Mostly the me I see is Dr. Reason. I rely on him and cherish his clarity. Sometimes I think it unfortunate that he is not more friendly to Mistress Emotion; one of a few cranial roommates. During this session, it’s Will, the mover, who takes center stage. Yes, Will has mutated and popped and jumped to the fore, armed with the mind’s eye. He is powerful now, and the results of our journey draw a gasp of amazement from Dr. Reason, which leads to a smile from the Mistress. I’m excited about the potential fruits of this session, a notepad full of nearly indecipherable musings.
Our journey starts at the toes with Will making each muscle move in turn as it’s focused upon. Many of these muscles had always only moved in conjunction with others, never independently - until now. Will seems to have gained coordination as well, since he only pings the muscles on which our mind’s eye is focused. I have so many small muscles! As my mind’s eye sweeps around and up my leg in a spiraling fashion, the Mistress applauds the twitching of muscles, as they remind her of ‘the wave’ in a sports stadium. Will revels in this glory, he is for the first time worthy of his own name, his own identity. He wields the power of the mind’s eye for the first time through which to power his motive. Under the glare of this mind's eye, the location of the muscles illuminate briefly, echoing the physical twitch.
In time, we near the head, which isn’t here so much as it is there. In Tabooland, the location where we anchor our mind’s eye sometimes becomes unattached, and that is how Will as come to possess it. A genuine thought experiment if ever there was one. In nearing the brain, the Doctor becomes concerned that the brain isn’t a muscle, and to allow Will to venture there may not be wise. But Will is powerful now and we promised him this moment in the spotlight. Then the mind’s eye passes through the skull and into the brain.
Dr. Reason narrates the proceedings, his logic fading to a background noise and increasing in tempo. So fast his narrative became, that it also contained the explanation for it’s speed. By what are our internal clocks set? Like a computer with it’s transistors as the clock, does our brain rely on the periodic rhythmic interplay between neurons to rate the speed of time? Yes, says the doctor, it does. The focus point of the mind's eye was ground zero, the flicker of illumination no longer accompanied by the twitch of a muscle; these are different types of nerves! We've entered the sacred chamber. The flicker suddenly blossoms a millionfold and reverberates then all my bodily muscles start twitching. The mind’s eye is blinded and overwhelmed by the brightness. Will has left the building.
Then perhaps I am me again for a year long moment. I shudder and shake and hear trains and planes and smell vinegar and metals. It’s an eternal torment, time has slowed almost to a stop, for now it has many angry neurons by which to measure it. My heart stutters, I bite my tongue and the blood makes it real. “Our lives will soon be over”, says the Doctor. Which is the wrong thing to say with Mistress Emotion eavesdropping. She comes screaming from the depths with as much power as she’s ever shown. Her face fills my mind’s eye, which locks eyes with her, and the terror reaches a crescendo… which drowns out the chain reaction of Will’s folly.
I am Joe again, I bolt upright flinging sweat and run to the bathroom, forgetting the memo pad, and in doing so soon leaving the seizure of Tabooland to live on only in my nightmares.

Nice. A glimpse into one man's abyss. Or, if you prefer, the narration of an internal horror movie.
