Post Re: Why i am confident there are no ghosts.
Suzanne wrote:
One of my favorite stories my mother would tell me was about ghosts, or, I should say the lack of them. My great grandparents were Welsh, the Welsh are a very ghostly type. It was taken as a promiss that after one of my great grandparents died, the deceased spouse would return as a ghost to visit. This was a Welsh belief, and was relied upon. My great grandmother outlived her husband and waited, and waited for her beloved to return to her as a ghost, never happened. And my great grandmother was devastated, and angry that they had relied on "that rubbish". She also said that if she had died first, and could not come back to visit, it would have killed her husband. My great grandparents were heavily predisposed to this belief, whole hearted belief, and nothing came of it. This is why I am confident, there are no ghosts.

This is beautifully heartbreaking and grounding all at the same time, Suzanne. That your great-grandmother came to the realization that her husband wasn't coming back for her as they had always believed he would is one of the saddest things I've read, and yet the conclusion you draw, the title of this post, the impact this story has had on you, makes it beautiful. The lesson was learned, even at the cost of your great-grandmother's faith, and passed down to you, who will certainly enjoy the company of your loved ones in this life and not rely on them to return to you once they're gone.

I hate to gush, really, but something about this story and the way you wrote it makes me think of it as poetry, like a prose poem or flash fiction, especially with that simple last line (thanks, Johnson, for the title). I really do find it beautiful, and I hope you don't mind my saying so.

Post Re: Why i am confident there are no ghosts.
I beleive in ghosts because I see them eveywhere. Not just glances out of the corner of my eye or in photographs or video or anything like that, but because I actually see them walking around, running sometimes, or even just standing there, everywhere. For as long as I can remember I have seen them. Sometimes, I swear that they even notice me seeing them, but that's rare. For all I know I'm a psycho lunatic, but I can't not beleive what my own eyes see.

Is it like Ghost Town or The Sixth Sense? Have you ever questioned what you are seeing (I don't mean this to sound offensive), like, do you wonder if they aren't ghosts, or why you can see what you see and if there's a purpose for it or something? I'm not asserting here that I believe in ghosts or that I believe you see them, but clearly you believe you see something, and I'd just like to hear your thoughts on that and why you are certain that what you see are ghosts. (Again, no offense, just curious.)

You know what else can be seen walking around, running sometimes, or even just standing there, everywhere? People.

You are seeing people.

And you know what, some of these people, they have these blank stares, some don't say excuse me if they bump into me, some don't make any eye contact at all, kinda like they are looking through me, or maybe don't see me, good grief, maybe I'm a ghost.

You guys are such party poopers. The ghosts need something before they can pass on into heaven. I'm sure each of them need some type of favor. Try doing them each a favor. Spread the love and do good deeds. Even if you're a psycho, at least you'll be a moral psycho.

It's fine, I honestly am curious and of course, I have no problem poking fun at ghosts and could always join in, but I honestly want to know more about what blankspace101 sees.

And you are very welcome, anytime. :)

Its funny to me how worked up some of you get, I mean its not gonna change who I am or hurt my feelings if you make fun. I personally think its rather pretty cool to see them and I love my life that much more because of it.

yeah its kinda like that only not so dramatic lol like they just look like normal poele. yeah I have questioned it but I'm pretty sure that they are either ghosts or my insane brain...most people will probably say the latter but I'm happy in believing my own "delusions" if you must call it that. But I know that they are not just people because they are there for maybe 5 to 10 seconds then gone, as I see them they just kind of disappear but I see them long enough to determine whether they are male or female (or at least if they look male or female)
But for the most part Its fun because it gives me a kind of "rush" like adrenaline or something everytime it happens which is quite frequently.. which makes me wonder why I wouldn't be used to it by now..I love the feeling lol.
btw I don't do drugs lol for those who might want to accuse of such things

Don't worry I've been made fun of my whole life for being "psycho" lol I'm used to it:p

I'd be insanely curious. Haven't you thought about setting up a video camera and testing to see if they show up? Or does it happen too infrequently to waste your time with? Do they disappear before your eyes, or after you look away then glance back and they're gone? Do you intuitively know that what you're seeing are ghosts, or is it inductive reasoning based on the fact they disappear? If everyone already thinks you're psycho, there's no harm in yelling at them, right? Have you ever tried to get their attention?

I was being cautious with my questioning at first because you never know how someone is going to react to being questioned about something like this. I try to start out treading lightly to get a feel for what kind of tone I will be able to take on in conversation and how far I can question before offending someone. I don't always do this, sometimes I respond harshly depending on the tone of the person I'm responding to, as I've recently done in another post, and caught flak for it. I don't try to offend people, but I also don't avoid conversations for fear of offending people, so whenever possible I try to find some kind of middle ground where I can joke and learn without hurting anyone's feelings. I'm glad you have a sense of humor about this situation because it makes it easier for me (and others) to learn more about you and what you experience.

I agree. I'd be very curious, and would try to push the limits of what I was seeing to find out what it really was or how much I could really know about these sightings. Maybe you can interact? Maybe you can use this to play jokes on people you don't like? Maybe you can make money?

I don't know. I would want to know why I was seeing them or what they were, for certain. Even if they are some sort of hallucination, you could probably use that to your advantage. And I do find it interesting that you get a physical rush from an encounter. I know I would definitely want hard evidence to show to others (as I am curious to know if you could show me these ghosts). It's always fascinating to me when someone believes they can feel/sense/hear/see ghosts or other supernatural phenomena because I have never been able to myself and have always wondered if these things were true.

I have but Ive never really had the privilege of owning one until pretty recently, I should try it. They most often disappear when I'm looking at them. I usually don't glance back at anyone I see, let alone people not physically there lol, so it probably happens like that a lot too, but I never really experience it like that. I think its a little of both actually, like I can feel a different kind of energy sometimes but not all the time. I don't know how else to explain it. haha yeah I guess thats true, no I've never tried to get their attention really. I'm kind of a chicken lol I mean I don't know what will happen you know that's always a little scary. They most of the time don't look like they even notice me so I just assume not bother with them. And I'm really scared  lol

Don't be scared, they can't hurt you. They have no bearing on the physical world, and if they haven't hurt you yet for glimpsing them, I doubt anything new will happen if you looked at them through a video camera instead of just your eyes. But I don't see or feel what you feel, so I don't really know, and I'm not asking you to do anything you're uncomfortable with. Just a thought.
