I am. I am looking forward to it as well. I am about half way through the book already, but we may want to wait a little since some people haven't received their books yet.
Also Robert Tulip posted a link to De Waal's Tanner Lecture, which is a version of the first chapter of the text. That should help as well.
BTW I've posted some supplementary readings (and videos) should anyone want to check some of the stuff De Waal says.

Actually that might be fun but I would depend upon you to tell me what it means to moderate at booktalk. In my experience the word appears to mean vastly different things depending upon which site you are attending.

If you are interested, drop Chris a private message that you want to be the discussion leader for this book. He has a post with tips for being a discussion leader. I looked for it, but alas, I couldn't find it. Basically, leading means guiding the discussion, especially when it gets too far off topic, adding asides that enrich the discussion and getting the discussion jump started if it begins to flag.

I went to Border's Books and Barnes & Nobles and neither had this book in stock. So I've ordered it through Amazon.com and it should arrive within a few days. I'm looking forward to reading it too.

I've received my copy of Primates and Philosophers and have read the Introduction and a few pages of Chapter 1. I'm liking the format of the book - how several different people present their concepts on the origins and evolutionary development of morality in our species.

Now that I have the book I'm realizing the current format for this forum isn't going to work. I originally created the threads based on an index for the book found on Amazon.com, but the index was misleading. For instance, the Appendices are actually quite brief and shouldn't necessarily be their own threads, and they certainly shouldn't be the first threads. I'll look over the book and rethink the format for this forum.
