Many of the books here I've read, so I know I share much in common with many of you.

What I don't share in common-- as is the case over at infidels-- is a veneration of left-wing political ideologies.

I too don't agree with these left-wing bastards.

As a registered Republican I'm a bit more than frustrated with the concentration of liberals in the freethinker world. Every conversation seems to involve bashing Bush - no matter what the topic.

What books have you read that we've tackled? Our new one, Ethical Brain, is just starting today. We do one new nonfiction book every quarter, so you've joined at the perfect time. I'm looking forward to your participation, and if you like us, I'd love if you shared our URL with your friends.

We should probably not debate this in his thread - unless he opts to. No, I'm not happy with Bush, but I do get sick of the Bush-Bashing.

Chris, I share your exact sentiments, right on down to being unhappy with Bush. We sound like kindred spirits.

I've read almost everything from Pinker, Bloom, Riddley, Shermer, and Harris. Those are just the ones I saw that were on here last night as I was looking around.

I don't want to turn this into a political thread. How naive of me to think it would turn out otherwise.

I will make a seperate thread sometime in the near future about the marriage of the rational (i.e.,science, atheism, and academia in general) with the irrational (i.e., hysteria and knee-jerk left-wing fundementalism).

Perhaps you forgot the said context-- atheism, science, and academia. No, there isn't much knee-jerk, right wing hysteria in those areas.

Here's where we differ. I see hysteria all over the place: Theocracy, environmentalsim, conspiracies re Rove and Bush, anti-Americanism, etc. Infidels is full of Marxists, for example. THAT'S radical.
