I watched the film a few years ago for high school. It's so different from the book, Tilda Swinton plays Orlando as very passive, he/ she gets swept along and experiences all these extremely different time periods of English history and doesn't blink an eyelid at them. I know that Woolf's Orlando also doesn't seem to be fazed much by all the changes going on around and inside him/ her (until the last chapter in which she gets pretty overwhelmed), but she nevertheless has those outrageous monologues filled with extravagant metaphors. I wonder why Sally Potter (the film's director) chose to portray such a stoic Orlando.
