This is a hypothetical question, so bear with me. It is also polarized depending on your beliefs.
If you are an atheist who does not believe in Christianity, consider hypothetically that Christianity is actually true. Would the state of religion today look any different? Would all the churches, beliefs, interactions, relationships, discussions, evidence of miracles,...etc., would all those things be any different if Christianity were true rather than false?
If you are a theist who believes in one religion or another, consider for a moment that the religion you believe in is actually false. Along the same lines as the question above, would there be any noticable difference to the status of today's world with respect to your religion if it were actually false rather than true? |

I think things would be different... according to the many claims made by the bible and its adherents… Jesus says in the bible that anything you ask for in his name will be granted… so anything asked for in Jesus’ name should magically appear…
Unexplainable miracles would be commonplace and suffering should be nonexistent… Jesus would have shown himself to us long ago… according to the bible he said he would return swiftly.
There would be evidence of a great flood… there would not be geographic isolation of species… prayer would work... archeological evidence would confirm the biblical account not show it to be false...
The Jews would be as numerous as the stars as stated by scripture, and the loving Christian god would squash the Muslims and other nonbelievers (such as myself) and lastly I think that Christians would be favored by what seemed to be random events.. after all god and the angels would truly be on their side protecting them from harm.

Thanks for the response Frank. Unfortunately this is such an obvious problem with religion that the excuse of how the bible only speaks in riddles is now commonplace.
I'm interested in hearing an opposing viewpoint. Would there suddenly be no miracles? Would God suddenly disappear? Would Christians suddenly stop being the only people living blessed lives? Would atheists suddenly stop dying by the thousands due to unforeseen accidents? |
