Hello all,
My name is Jean L. I am an IT manager/project manager and live in the Bloomington/Normal area. I have tried for many years to find a local book group that I could particiapte in without success, so I have turned to the Internet!
I love reading History, Biography, and Political Science/Current Affairs/Foreign Policy books. However, I have been known to read my niece's Warrior Cats and Harry Potter series and enjoy discussing them with her! I also will read Fiction, Mysteries, Science Fiction and Fantasy....about the only genre I will not read is Horror.
I have a Bachelor and Masters in Public Administration and in 12/06, I received a Masters of Art in History. I am hoping to teach part time at a community college when I finally decide to retire from my current career.
I hope I am doing this correctly, but if not, please let me know. Thanks, and I look forward to reading and discussing some good books with all of you!

Hello Jean, welcome to Booktalk!
This is a very informative introduction, and from what you say about your reading interests you're at the right place...
I look forwards to discussions with you on our forums. |

Hi Jean, and welcome.
I too am a newbie, though you sound a whole lot smarter then me, but that's what makes these sort of sites great, the taking out your thoughts and brushing them next to the thoughts of others who have different views and backgrounds from one's own.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and views on things as well as getting to know you better.

Hi Jean
Welcome to the forum. It sounds as though you're interested in a number of very interesting topics so I'm sure you'll enjoy contributing here.
I'm the same re: a book group. I looked into joining some local groups but the meeting times always interfered with classes or work, hence why I am here |
