Robert - I don't think England had the monopoly in barbaric behaviour, especially in the times of the Pikestaffs.

And yes, I have encountered sadistic teachers....I think there is something in their bullying natures which attracts them to that profession.

There are always nasty bullying/sadistic people about, everywhere.

The thing about the news last week which upset me, was the fact that in these cases it was 'group barbarism'. I suppose I can cope with the idea of a nasty sadistic person, but when they begin to organise themselves into groups, I worry. They'll be bringing back public executions next.

Sad

Tarav would be just as inconsiderate, faith or no faith, it being in his nature.

Tarav is a woman. A great one at that.

Oh Tarav - I do apologise! There aren't that many women on this forum and that's why it never entered my head that you might be female. Sorry.

And that has just shown up some predjudice in me....because now, it doesn't seem so bad that you park in places reserved for pregnant females....being female yourself that is.

Please overlook my mistake and criticism in saying that you must be inconsiderate. Who am I to judge?

And I will overlook Robert Tulip's racism against the English a few posts back. Also he was a trifle ageist....calling me a person of advanced years....indeed.....it's true.....but I don't like being reminded!!! Smile

Thank you for your indulgence of my extravagant language Penelope, and my off-topic rambling. My comment on your seniority was not derogatory, rather the reverse. I actually love England, but you must admit it has always had a rather wild hooligan element. They would never have conquered most of the world without it. The difference is that these days the media takes much closer notice of deplorable behaviour.

Actually, I suppose you are right Robert, and you have made me feel better about the reportage. We have always been an island of barbarians it is just that it is reported in the press and on TV to a greater extent now. To reiterate what you just said... Embarassed

Actually we had a discussion last evening, husband, two sons and I about this subject and your name was mentioned.... Embarassed They said to remember that we are Europeans...as I always insist anyway. And it was Europe which took over the World, and the Americans and the Aussies are all Europeans anyway!!! Laughing

Well if illegal parking in places reserved for people with disabilities is the worst of our worries then things are okay. Imagine living in Gambia on thirty cents a day. Actually, many Australians and Americans are indigenous or Asian or African. For myself, I am a 100% True Briton, probably descended from Joseph of Arimathea and Aeneas.

Oh, Penelope, Sad

Those are very sad things to hear about. I'm so sorry. I really hope those people learned something from acting that way, and it better be important, too. It makes me realize why some people would want to go to a belief in Hell because they would be so mad at the mean behavior. Other people would want the people who did those things to learn, then they would despair of what was learned ever making up for the pain that had been caused in this lifetime and that would make them hope for reincarnation so the learning could go on and the evil actors would become great boddhisattvas and redeem themselves in the end. But actually, right now it just completely bites, doesn't it?

GR - Thanks - what a kind post.

Actually all the brutish behaviour has been overshadowed this week by the World banking crisis being reported in the press.

See, everything has a 'good' side. Wink

I must agree with you however GR, the doctrine of reincarnation is a very seductive one.
