Robert - I don't think England had the monopoly in barbaric behaviour, especially in the times of the Pikestaffs.

And yes, I have encountered sadistic teachers....I think there is something in their bullying natures which attracts them to that profession.

There are always nasty bullying/sadistic people about, everywhere.

The thing about the news last week which upset me, was the fact that in these cases it was 'group barbarism'. I suppose I can cope with the idea of a nasty sadistic person, but when they begin to organise themselves into groups, I worry. They'll be bringing back public executions next.

And I will overlook Robert Tulip's racism against the English a few posts back. Also he was a trifle ageist....calling me a person of advanced years....indeed.....it's true.....but I don't like being reminded!!! Smile

They said to remember that we are Europeans...as I always insist anyway. And it was Europe which took over the World, and the Americans and the Aussies are all Europeans anyway!!! Laughing

Those are very sad things to hear about. I'm so sorry. I really hope those people learned something from acting that way, and it better be important, too. It makes me realize why some people would want to go to a belief in Hell because they would be so mad at the mean behavior. Other people would want the people who did those things to learn, then they would despair of what was learned ever making up for the pain that had been caused in this lifetime and that would make them hope for reincarnation so the learning could go on and the evil actors would become great boddhisattvas and redeem themselves in the end. But actually, right now it just completely bites, doesn't it?

Actually all the brutish behaviour has been overshadowed this week by the World banking crisis being reported in the press.

See, everything has a 'good' side. Wink

I must agree with you however GR, the doctrine of reincarnation is a very seductive one.
