Chris pinned up a poll at a Christian forum that I used to contribute at, and still visit every once and a while. I figured his intent was to attract a theist to this website/forum (because his poll seemed rather silly), so here I am.

Interesting (and nicely done) forum you have here.

Brief bio: I am a Christian, age 37, and I reside in Seattle, Washington, with my wonderful wife of 12 years and my 5 fantastic kids.

In terms of Christian writers, my interests center mostly around around the mystics (St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, etc.); I also enjoy many secular writers (particularly classic literature) and also the socio-politcal analyses of writers like Ayn Rand, Allan Bloom, Robert L. Kocher, and so on.

I don't really have much focused interest in evolution, biology, science, etc., so I doubt I will be able to contribute much to this forum. (And also the fact that I have relatively little time to devote to internet forums.)

Well, that briefly covers my faith, my family, and my reading interests. Other than that, my main interest is in the Washington State competitive racquetball tournament circuit, which I play and train for with near-Falwell-like zeal.

That about sums me up.

You pegged me right Eric. The goal was to fuel some theists to join in on the discussions here at BookTalk. We welcome every perspective and could use a few more representatives from the theistic camp. Thank you for joining and I hope to see you around on the boards and in the chat room.

Thanks for the welcome, Chris. I will indeed join the "theistic camp".

To be perfectly honest, after reading around the forum a little yesterday and this morning, I don't know how valuable my presence/posts would be. Not only is my worldview radically different than many of the contributors here, but the discussions are a little... highbrow for me - and so I end up losing interest. I don't mean that in any derogatory way- it's a reflection of my own intellectual shortcomings and attention span, not a poor reflection on the forum or the topic matter. But I'll hang around for a while, and chime in if I feel like I have anything worthwhile to offer.

I've taken a stand for faith, I've cast a vote for being a gun-owner, I've stated that homosexuality is sexual deviancy, and I'm just dying to begin illustrating Mr. Pessimistic's cerebral deficiencies and insult his worldview mercilessly.

Should I continue?

Okay, today is my last day here, and it looks as though I will not have any further time, other than just to say some thank you's.

My employer has been "replaced" with a new firm - well, not totally; it's a joint venture - and we are all getting new computers [yay] and are having to save all important data on our individual drives so that we can, with the new company [which operates an a sophisticated intranet] transition smoothly. In addition, they have a strict "no web-surfing" policy... which, though understandable, is kind of a bummer... since I do all my web-surfing and forum-participating from work.

I rarely get on the net at home, other than to check my e-mail, and flex the e-commerce laissez-faire capitalistic muscle. My home life generally is too full for any internet play.
