My first published novel, My Sister's Keeper, was published in May, 2007.
My Sister's Keeper is a riveting suspense thriller that not only explores the special bond between a brother and a sister, but also the troubled relationships between a man and his father and a man and himself.
When his investigative-reporter sister is brutally attacked and thrown out of a 4th floor window while investigating the rape and attempted murder of a 13-year-old, New York photographer Richard Baimbridge rushes back to his hometown of Wilmington, NC, to assist with her recovery and runs face to face into his tormented past and a dark family secret.
Most of the day, you'll find me hiding out in my upstairs writing chamber hammering away on my next suspense thiller, The Code Breaker's Wife which I hope to have ready for marketing by the end of the year.
Back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, I spent most of my time jumping back and forth between a typewriter and an audio production booth while writing and producing for radio. And having spent most of my spare time performing and directing local theatre, I pen'd my first full-length play in 1984, Blackbeard's Final Conquest, an outdoor drama, and had my first indoor play reach the stage in 1989 when Brittany's Dream was produced at New Bern Civic Theatre.
I have resided about two miles downriver from Nicholas Sparks in New Bern, North Carolina with my wife Dorrie, and what is now four cats and a yorkie named "Higgins."
REVIEW: "Bill Benners is a fresh and welcomed new voice in crime fiction. My Sister's Keeper is a compelling and original psychological thriller. Awesome, powder-keg suspense!" --Andrew McAleer, Crimestalker Casebook/crimestalkers.com
