Hi I am new to this group; I have always wanted to start a book club but no one I know reads as voraciously as I do So hopefully joining one will be the next best thing. The following is a list of my favourite types of books:
Historical fiction
Dystopian novels
Novels by foreign authors
Popular science (especially theoretical physics, such as the books written by Michio Kaku)
And the types of books I never read:
Pure romance
"Dime store" science fiction
Police or law novels (especially John Grisham...zzzzzzz....)
Sorry if I offended anyone those books just aren't my cup of tea
Currently I am reading Atonement by Ian McEwan and just finished Blind Faith by Ben Elton; loved both of them! If anyone can recommend some good books to me I would love to hear from them
P.S. I am a 25 year old woman living in Ontario Canada and am currently in college to become a Veterinary Technician....besides books animals are my only other true passion! |

Hello Bookworm, welcome to Booktalk!
I also love historical fiction, and like you I don't like romance. This is a rather frustrating situation for me, because most historical fiction writers actually write romances (and there is obviously a public for these).
What are your favourite historical fiction titles?
As for book recommendations, I suggest you start exploring our forums little by little, and you will find they are full of references to books our members have recommended. |
