Hello to everyone, I apologize ahead of time for anyone who actually reads this...it may turn into more of a ramble than anything else.
My name is Jen. I am 22, and have been obsessed with reading since I was four. I am currently working at a Kinder Care for the time being (a daycare for anyone who hasn't heard about them). I work with School Aged kids (usually 1st through 5th grade). They are all characters and they definitely drive me crazy, but it's where I'm at right now and I make the best of it.
I recently moved back to Colorado in February. Before that I was living in Louisiana for about a year, Kentucky before that, California before that, and a different part of Colorado before that (nothing to do with the military). I was having a bit of a crisis and decided that a change (or lots of changes) of scenery would be the best bet. I moved back recently to have my wonderful daughter around family. My little girl was born April 17, and she is absolutely the greatest thing in my life.
I am trying to get back into some sense of order now that I am back to work, and part of normal for me is reading. I am addicted to classical literature, but I do read most anything else I can get my hands on. I should be banned from ever going into a book store by myself (I really can't afford my book-buying habit). I own somewhere around 10 copies of Pride and Prejudice, and I don't know why...I just keep buying them when I find a new one that I like the looks of. The most recent thing I've read was A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, which I loved but found slightly more intense than I anticipated. I attempt to read and speak French now, but it has been quite some time since I used it so I am very rusty.
Aside from those random and slightly disturbing facts, there's not a lot to tell about myself. I play around with photography, painting, writing, and knitting. I am probably the oldest 22 year old you'll ever meet.
Anyway, I am just looking for some decent reading and discussion to occupy my time at night. Hope I haven't bored anyone to death with this!
Thanks for reading!

Congrats on your daughter. I have two little girls right now; one is 4 and one is 2. While they are time-consuming and overwhelming, I love them more than anything else. Girls, I find, can be very loving. Life is incomplete without them.
I hope to chat with you again soon.

Jen, that was an awesome introduction. Welcome to BookTalk.org. It sounds like you and I have a similar addiction to books, but I can't say I own more than 2 copies of any one book. Have you ever considered going to reading rehab? |
