|
|
|
Hello to all and thank you for welcoming me to BookTalk! My name is Dillon Brown and I currently reside in California, up north and in the mountains. Yes, far from the beaches and big cities, just the way I like it. I recently self-published a novel, "Dillon Brown's Island" and purchased an ISBN number for it and, thanks to some good fortune, the book has gone global across the internet and into the databases of numerous online book sellers! But my sales are down due to be a new author and I want to get my work into the actual stores themselves. So I joined this forum in hopes to spread the word and hopefully collect some readers!
The book is about the Bermuda Triangle and the strange inhabitants (prehistoric...) that still thrive on a series of islands caught in a bizarre time phenomenon. Due to the desire to study the ancient animals and help maintain the over grown populations, five big game hunters are offered the chance to hunt down God's most mysterious creation: the dinosaur. But government coverups, double agents and an insane group of eco-terrorists all erupt at the same time and all Hell breaks loose. The book is non-stop action and provides a large amount of information on dinosaurs. This book is NOT intended for children (many people see "dinosaur" and they think kid's book...think Jurassic Park language and violence) so I would suggest reading it before you let anyone under the age of 13.
Feel free to contact me at any time to discuss the book or pick my brain on how I got myself published! Thank you and I look forward to meeting all of you faithful readers! |

Dillon, this sounds like an incredibly fascinating book. Some online books are available for free online, but mostly books now in the public domain such as the classics. Is your book somewhere for free or at least somewhere we can download it for a fee? Leave a link here if so.
Oh, and welcome to BookTalk.org |

Thanks for the reply Chris. Yes, the book is available as an eBook and it can be purchased at www.lulu.com. The site has a few of the other books I have worked on and I believe all of them are available in eBook form as well. There is a fee for the books and I really wish I could get them available for free, but due to the economy right now and the fact that Lulu.com is a smaller organization, a fee must be set in order to cover the cost of production. Here is the actual link that goes directly to my storefront.

I hope I can get some good feedback on it, it's my first attempt and I expect to be criticized. It should help me with future endeavors! My editors consisted of college English majors like myself, but no one professional because I just simply can't afford it right now. I know of one error that slipped through, but I found three in a mystery novel by a well known author just last week, so I'm not too ashamed! Thanks again for the reply and I hope to get into some great discussions on this forum! |

If only one mistake got through, your homies did a great job!!! I read something on your blog; was that part of the novel? I don't want to take up a lot of space here with personal comments on your writing, but shooty me an email and I will share some thoughts and if you have any specific questions, ASK.
