Thank you, DWill, you'e right - In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
William, Bonnie, Kenyon and Nancy are the names of the Clutter family who were murdered in Holcomb, Kansas (by Richard Hickock and Perry Smith) in 1959.
"The best documentary account of an American crime ever written. . . . The book chills the blood and exercises the intelligence . . . harrowing."
New York Review of Books
And, as the critics love to say, "It's a great read."
Well, that was interesting; I was beginning to think that nobody else had read the book (or, perhaps, that nobody cared). DWill, you've already won my respect and admiration, whatever that's worth. I'd send you my copy of the book if I had your address.
Here's the next Name That Book posting - and I've changed the format of the trivia question to make it unGoogleable (I hope):
Two shots. Mother dead, child lives, end of story. Heredity versus environment?
Name the book and the author.

| This is an interesting thread Ralph, and the idea of changing the clues to neutralize search engines is great. |

No takers? Here's clue #2:
First a best-selling book, then a big hit on Broadway, an award winning movie (one of the actresses won an Academy Award), and lastly, a highly rated made-for-TV movie.

We call - Les Miserables - THE GLUMS!!!
But I do like it....and I have got the video...and I have seen the show on stage.
I hope you are joking Pres. about the rape scene after 'Cats'.
I went to see 'Cats' at the Empire in Liverpool with our local High School.
Robin Cousins (the Olympic Ice Skater) played the lead.....and it was TSEliot....after all.....so the words, the dancing and the music were magic.
So, tell me you were making that up.....Pres. It is an awful allegation otherwise...and should be addressed. |

I beg your Pardon Mr. President!
Obviously....you are much too sophisticated for me!!!!
I am much too naive and country bumpkin for this thread......I am pleased to record.
Pardon me for becoming alarmed! |

No way Penelope.
If anything it's the opposite. I am going to update my signature block. |

Hey Ralph, are the two clues connected, or are you quizzing two different books? These must hard for you to think up, but they're good.
