Update for April 9, 2008
Avatars
Only a handful of members have added an avatar to their profile, so to motivate you all to give avatars a try I am including some free avatar web sites. Avatars allow you to make a statement, get a laugh, or share a little about yourself. Avatars make your profile and posts more personal and exciting.

Donations
I've created a new page to highlight the members that have contributed money to help support BookTalk.org. Look over in the left sidebar near the top. Click on the Donations to BookTalk.org link.
This page will be edited a bit soon. I'm going to have to go through our PayPal logs to verify the amount each person donated and to make sure they are assigned to the correct donation level. Corrections will be made to the list of contributors soon. If you see an error or omission please email chris@booktalk.org and let me know.
Some of you have donated money directly by sending checks so our PayPal account won't include those donations. I'll do my best to have the list of contributors accurate soon, but please don't be shy about correcting me. If you have donated money to help this community you are much appreciated. I'm hoping this new system will show that appreciation more fully.
Also, your donation level, whether it be Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond, will soon appear on all of your forum posts right under your name in the left margin. It will become an automatic part of your profile. Some of you prefer to donate anonymously. This is perfectly fine. If you don't want your name list on our contributors page or on your profile you are free to donate anonymously. When you make a donation through our secure PayPal link in the left sidebar you have the option of being anonymous. Or if you mail a check just include a note asking me to keep my mouth shut and I will.
If you have considered donating, but simply have never made the move please consider doing so now. The transition from ezboard to our new forum has cost thousands of dollars. This means that our current level of donations is significantly less than necessary to cover the cost of staying online. Your help is needed and appreciated. I am hoping that this new system of giving recognition to supporters will show you just how much your generosity is appreciated. |
