- The female characters.
After Heart of Darkness, how's this (No Country) for a men's club?
The women in No Country are not developed characters, but they are there.
What do they represent?
What is their role? |

| The lack of development of the female characters is unfortunate since, for me, they are the only real positive characters in the novel. The men, even the good guys, never cease to disappoint. Loretta Bell is the only female to survive and her husband pretty much breaks her heart. |

In a world of tough guys and tough people, McCarthy gives us two touching love stories.
Carla Jean's story about how she met Moss is, in the context, a curious but moving story of faith and love at first sight, although it is told in a rough voice. Not something I would have expected in such a book.

And, speaking about ladies and No Country, gentlemen: Carly (Wildcitywoman) is waiting for her copy of No Country to arrive and will be joining our discussion soon!
