Casual Chat: Thursday, Feb. 28th at 9:00 pm EST

Please join us for a live chat in the BookTalk chat room this Thursday, February 28, 2008 starting at 9:00 pm Eastern. Check the "World Time Zones" link in the left sidebar to see what time 9:00 pm Eastern is in your area of the world.

As always this is simply a casual chat to hang out with one another and have fun. There are a few items we can discuss, but overall the goal is to have a good time and get acquainted with each other.

Some items I'd love to discuss...

1. I'd like some ideas for contests. Authors and publishers are sending me free books regularly and I'd like to turn around and give these out to members as awards. Think about some fun contests we can have and bring your ideas to the chat session. If you can't make it to the chat just post your ideas right here in this thread.

2. Should we have a 1x per month casual chat? This is a question I'd like answered by as many members as possible. And if we do agree that 1x per month is desirable, what day and time would be ideal? Or should we do 2x per month with 1 chat in the evening, such as this Thursday night chat, and one chat during the day on the weekend? Provide feedback here or bring your comments to this Thursdays chat. Smile

3. I'll explain the "Editor's Pick" new feature.

4. The new games - what do you think of them? Have you tried any of the games? I'd love some help categorizing our games. Right now we have 170 games all lumped into one big category. Maybe we can work together to figure out some categories, such as...

- arcade
- puzzles
- word games

Any questions or comments you would like to share with me would also be welcome Thursday night, but don't think you have to have any to be welcome. If you can be there I hope to see you. Smile

I am almost positive that I'll be there for the chat Thursday. I hope there is a good turn-out. I'd like to reconnect with some oldies and meet some of the fresh blood!

Who else thinks they'll attend? It would be nice to get a head count.

Actually, you didn't show up on time and the chat room was totally empty at 9:00 pm Eastern. It was me that was all by myself. If you show up 30 minutes late you cannot expect people to wait around.

If we had more people planning to participate in these chats you would have probably walked in on a chat session in progress, but when we're just trying to get this monthly chat program started it is essential that at least a handful of people take the 9:00 startup time seriously. Otherwise, the one person that is punctual is going to leave in frustration. And then the next person that shows up will do likewise.

Look at the time of my post above. It was made at 9:11 pm Eastern. That means I sat there for 11 minutes without any company. I think 11 minutes is enough to determine that the chat session was a failure and warrant leaving the chat room.
