BBcode Mini Tutorial

I got this idea from a post by riverc0il and realized that to get the most out of it, new users should have a few examples. So here goes, this is all basic stuff you can do with the buttons above the text box when you post a message.

Bold text
Type:


	Code: [b]Bold text[/b]

Italics and underlines:


	Code: [i]Italics[/i] and [u]underlines[/u]

Big font - Little font:


	Code: [size=24]Big font[/size] - [size=7]Little font[/size]

A short list:


	Code: [list]1. animal. 2. vegetable. 3. mineral.[/list]

An example of an image (no link):


	Code: [img]http://www.booktalk.org/images/header.jpg[/img]

An example of an image (hyperlinked to a page):


	Code: [url=http://www.booktalk.org/][img]http://www.booktalk.org/images/header.jpg[/img][/url]

Two kinds of links:
http://www.booktalk.org/
Booktalk.org


	Code: [url]http://www.booktalk.org/[/url] [url=http://www.booktalk.org/]Booktalk.org[/url]

Pretty Colours:

Using Colour:


	Code: [color=red]Using Colour[/color]

One Colour per Word:


	Code: [color=red]One[/color] [color=yellow]Colour[/color] [color=green]per[/color] [color=blue]Word[/color]

And finally, all at once to show proper nesting of tags:
Sample Text

Another nice code would be the center tag.

Indie added a new BBCode that makes a single line across the post wherever the code is added. Look for the hr button and give it a try.

How about the Strikethrough tag?

I think we added the strike through feature after David created this tutorial thread. But good point. We offer the strike through tag. Just select the text you want to strike through and then click the "s" button above.
