Book Advice

Okay, I'm looking for some works which fit one or more of the below criteria:

- Modern American social commentary
- Satire
- Witty humor, but with substance
- Stupid and risque things that happen in a New York City
- Fresh ideas and themes
Any suggestions appreciated.

One of the books which interest me is “Tales of a New York Limo Driver” by Nicky Testaforte. It talks about the stupid and risque things that happen in a New York City limo.

Not only does the author tell amazing stories of sex, excess and stupidity, he also offers up a bunch of driving and travel tips, some very sarcastic and scathing. I found the book at amazon.com

I really wish BookTalk.org would delete shameless SPAM promotions like this one. A Google search for "Nicky Testaforte" reveals many many many other such first post by pretend members with accounts created only to spam the forum with promotion. The user names generally follow the semantic notation of a first name followed by numbers. Essentially, the publisher, publicist, marketing company, or author is using a public forum to spam their product instead of following traditional marketing channels? Guerilla Marketing? Perhaps. Another way to look at this is they are achieving free advertising on BookTalk.org's dollar. Not sure if eZboard tracks IPs (another benefit of phpBB) but I suspect both of the above comments originate from the same IP address. In any case, I think allowing spam to filter through the forum is a severe negative impact on the community. I know this is a book discussion group site, but in the spirit of the internet, I always hate to see this type of shameless forum spamming performed and dislike seeing people get away with it.

We actually encourage authors and publishers to suggest, recommend or plug their books in this forum. Part of this forum description is: "Visitors are welcome to suggest books too."

There is no reason for this person to feel inclined to use such deceptive tactics to promote their book. They are free to make posts and as long as the books are not pornographic or ridiculously offensive we leave such plugs alone.

But you called this one right. We do track IP addresses and these two posts come from virtually the same IP address.

The plugs are welcome, but the deception is annoying and completely unnecessary.
