May I suggest: Nicholas Humphrey, THE MIND MADE FLESH, Oxford University Press, 2002
This book is recommended by Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett and others. It deals with evolutionary psychology, with important chapters on Faith Healing, the Placebo Effect, altruism, the mind-body problem, cave art and autism, and much more. The chapter, What Shall We Tell the Children, discusses the ethics/morality of parents indoctrination of children with ideas that cripple rational thought. There is also a speculative chapter on the nature of Jesus' thinking regarding his own 'miraculous' capacity.
This book is so good that I am going to return the library copy and buy one of my own!
