| I read "Sphere" from cover to cover over the course of a single night, because it was due back to the library the next day. That was back in high school, though, and I remember very little of the book now (except the sea snakes), so it's not a method I'd recommend. I hear they allow people to recheck books now. And you can renew your library books via the internet, and put in your order for a reserve book, too. Great stuff, eh?
As for fastest, I think we need to define our terms a little more. I've read some nifty mysteries in an afternoon, and some novels I couldn't tear my eyes away from in an evening/night, but anything serious takes time because I have the attention span of a flea. That's why I read from 4 to 6 books at a time. I once read a definition of will power as the strain of keeping focused. I'll say.
