What bugs the shit out of me is how we, as a society, don't seem to be making much headway with the separation of church and state issue. Shouldn't this all be behind us by now? Haven't enough court battles been fought over this subject?

Every new administration brings a new wave of court cases and attempts to merge church and state. Why don't we see this happening with slavery or women's right to vote? I'm just getting tired of hearing about the same religious nonsense being dredged up in each individual state year after year and year. Why isn't it abundantly clear that we're all better off with a secular government?

In a perfect world, a class on the literature of world religions in a high school would be wonderful -- opening everyone's eyes to the different belief systems of the world, a discussion of their history and place in society...taught of course by an open-minded non-theist.
