When modern writers die, there are some fights over who controls the money, lets not forget the agent wants a cut or more.

Certainly a bizarre story Taylor. She got the rights back in the end. It's a legal maze. It's a strange image of her being wheeled around the casino by the Methodist minster and feeding coins into the machines.

Artists can be legally conned by sharks but both Lee's dad and sister were lawyers. Still she seemed to just sign things when she maybe wasn't equipped to know exactly what she was signing for.
She didn't seem to be lacking financially but the rights are important.
Strange though that she never did write another book, though Watchman seems like an early draft or what she really wanted to write.
In the article she says she just didn't want all the celebrity and unwanted attention she got from TKAM again.
Still writing seemed to be in her veins and she might have written for her own enjoyment.
This story has a cast of shady and honest characters with double dealing and booms and busts and the human toll and fallout from it all.
