Sum n = -1/12
n=1

where n are natural numbers.

to be considered a heresy by orthodoxy strikes me as somewhat of a compliment.

no statement is true until it has been officially denied :-D

a heretic is someone who disagrees with you over something neither of you know anything about

I'm repeating myself but in a better (more accessible) way.

F F Bruce

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F._F._Bruce
F. F. Bruce, was a Biblical scholar who supported the historical reliability of the New Testament. His first book, New Testament Documents: Are They Reliable? (1943), was voted by the American evangelical periodical Christianity Today in 2006 as one of the top 50 books "which had shaped evangelicals".
i would think that anyone who supports the historical reliability of the NT is in need of a rethink.

when the American evangelicals like you it's a sure sign you are getting something wrong.

but i could be wrong

S? what is the strongest part of the work you cited, maybe if we focus in on something you find of value in the work we can see if it's worth pursuing further.

heresy shouldn't be this much fun :) (thanks Miguel)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heresy
Etymology

The term heresy is from Greek αἵρεσις originally meant "choice" or "thing chosen",[6] but it came to mean the "party or school of a man's choice"[7] and also referred to that process whereby a young person would examine various philosophies to determine how to live. The word "heresy" is usually used within a Christian, Jewish, or Islamic context, and implies slightly different meanings in each. The founder or leader of a heretical movement is called a heresiarch, while individuals who espouse heresy or commit heresy are known as heretics. Heresiology is the study of heresy.
call me a heretic, seems it might be a compliment :-D

I think the word as used today is more positive than negative, don't you think? Kind of close to "iconoclast," which is strongly positive. I apologize to stahwre for not reading his linked info, but gnosticism being labeled a heresy by the Church doesn't say anything about its inherent worth.

I was thinking the same thing. It's really such an archaic idea that we could commit heresy today. Heresy against what exactly? Against which church? Stahrwe's link relates the writings of some dude, Irenaeus, from the early early 2nd century. I have to think that maybe Stahrwe is kidding.I would welcome his explanation.

I have often wished the Catholic Church would excommunicate me. How proud I would be! But I guess that will never happen.

Hi Buddy.

Pleased to see your interest in Gnosticism, Christianity's moral side.

What is a heretic to you and what is it about (us) that caused the early church to try to kill all of (us) off and burn our scriptures and myths?

Also, as a creation of God, --- your belief I take it, --- do you consider yourself a child of God?

Regards
DL
