I'm a 66-year-old man living in a suburb of Seattle with my wife and African Grey parrot. I retired a few years ago from a solo medical practice in allergy and clinical immunology, and since then I've had a lot more time to resume reading. I have always loved reading, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and even while busy with work I tried to read a few nonmedical pages at bedtime. In addition to reading books from our local county and city libraries (primarily detective novels, thrillers, and mysteries these days), I have just started working on trying to organize all the family genealogy data that my mother collected over many years, and while I do that I usually have music of some sort - classical, vintage rock, or even country - playing in the background.
One of my reasons for finding BookTalk and registering was to ask a question that has been nagging at me: does anyone here know of a detective-mystery series of novels in which the main male character has a friend, a seeming dandy who actually is a deadly martial arts expert, with the nickname "Win"? I have forgotten the author and book names and would like to be able to find them again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for welcome and the suggestion. I did get an answer: it was the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben.

Hi Churchy, and welcome to Book Talk. Glad you found an answer to your question. I understand your position on reading; I am a retired attorney, and spent the last 35 years (before I retires 10 years ago), reading pleadings, discovery, briefs, contracts, and other legal documents. Now I read what I want. My tastes in reading are pretty broad; I like mysteries too, my favorite author is Michael Connelly (I really like Harry Bosch). I also like science fiction, some fantasy (I am pretty picky here), some Western fiction (picky again), historical fiction, and good general fiction. Don't hesitate to jump into any discussion that interests you; we are a pretty welcoming bunch.
