Blockbuster movie defending God

Unread post

It must have a big budget, this is actually playing near me

http://godsnotdeadthemovie.com/

The plot looks hilarious
Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class. If Josh fails to convince his classmates of God’s existence, he will fail the course and hinder his lofty academic goals. With almost no one in his corner, Josh wonders if he can really fight for what he believes. Can he actually prove the existence of God? Wouldn’t it just be easier just to write “God Is Dead” and put the whole incident behind him? GOD’S NOT DEAD weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action. The film will educate, entertain, and inspire moviegoers to explore what they really believe about God, igniting important conversations and life-changing decisions.

just had the glorious pleasure of watching the movie in full...

wow! words will not suffice, you must see it to believe it.

more strawmen and charicatures than you can sufficiently laugh at without pausing so you dont miss the next one.

i'll def be watching that one again..

immortal

something for everyone in there :-D

really, atheist and true believer alike, an experience not to be missed.

you may even want to send a text to all your friends at the end of the movie

Kevin Sorbo,

uppity "intellectual" who knows god is real, but lashes out trying to make people stop believing because of his own petty hatred of god (which he secretly knows is real).

Sassy christian student faced with the challenge to save the souls of all his classmates takes the front of the class and issues a resounding defense of gods real existence (which we all secretly knew was the truth, but were faking we thought the other way, presumably so we could sin to our heart's content).

Looks like one hell of a good movie.

thinking back on the movie the next day once the laughs subsided (that took quite a while), what was the first thing i remembered as a message of the movie?

early on in the action when our "brave christian" was deciding to take on the "militant anti-theist God hating professor" through the power of God, the Mighty One of Israel there was a scriptural theme being pumped...

if you are "ashamed of Jesus" (code for 'you don't witness your faith before non-believers') then Jesus will be ashamed of you before the Father.

so if you don't want the ultimate embarrassment of having Jesus refuse to acknowledge you to God then you better get out there and start witnessing for literalist orthodoxy...

as it later turns out you can easily do this by sending a text to everyone on your cell phone contacts list, a text message that reads "God's not dead" :-D

so here lying in the rubble of the laughs is the same tired old psychological guilt trip, witness to get the "movement" growing or be cast out from before the face of God

but of course as christians "love is the key to everything we do" "Jesus is the scource of it all"

so yeah, it appears the old "psych 101" school of evangelism is still alive and kicking in some quarters of the "bride of Christ"

"Those that have ears, let them hear"

yeah, and after he's watched me take a dump, he can watch some more iraqis die at the hands of the christian nation par excellence! :-D

maybe then he can watch a drone strike on a civilian wedding, maybe catch a kid or two getting blown to smithereens, hell he could probably simultaneously watch some imbecile bimbo flash her tits at nickelback

so much to watch, so little time, oh that's right he's god, he's got a freaking great tivo
