A Creative Toolkit of Meditations by William Blake

Unread post

Research indicates that meditation encourages better health, a higher level of happiness, and a longer life. From William W. Blake, a highly practiced meditator and teacher, comes A Creative Toolkit of Meditations: a new book designed to make meditation easily accessible to everyone.

About the book:

A Creative Toolkit of Meditations has twenty meditations that assist the reader in developing her or his own meditation practice, and in mastering the two styles of meditation: inquiry and mindfulness. Mindfulness meditation subdues our monkey-mind thoughts. Inquiry meditation asks Inner Silence for an answer to painful relationship and work issues.

A Creative Toolkit of Meditations also provides a deep understanding of our underlying cultural conditioning and introduces an innovative approach to using meditation to reduce emotional stress and achieve self-realization.

The book is available now on Amazon.com: http://amzn.to/17RiLdS

About the author:

William W. Blake, a descendant of the great poet William Blake, has taught meditation for fifteen years. Participants in his classes create their own meditation toolkits. He has been involved in seven self-growth practices. His meditation approach ensures increased creativity, better relationships, and happiness. Blake and his wife live in Marina Del Rey, Southern California.

So I assume that this book is available on the kindle? I might have to look into it. I have always wanted to learn more about meditation, as I do feel that it does the body good. I just have a hard time concentrating enough to do it. Wonder if the book goes into detail about how we can avoid not being able to concentrate?

Jaci,

Yes, "A Creative Toolkit of Meditations" is available on Amazon Kindle for $2.99! You can download it here: http://amzn.to/19ytzyx

The author does focus on helping you "tame your monkey-mind," as he refers to it. The great thing about this book is that it's written to help "real people," including those of us (myself, as well) who have trouble sitting still--mentally or physically--even for a few minutes.

If you'd like to learn more about the author and his philosophies, he gave a two-part interview in January which is posted here: http://bit.ly/1exurli

He was also a guest last week on an online radio show called "The Shift with Ana and Skip," where he discussed what he calls "real-time meditations" with and Ana ways to use meditation to overcome life's hardships and negative thought patterns even if you can only focus for a few minutes each day. You can listen to that conversation here: http://bit.ly/1i9IsJk

I will note, in the interest of full disclosure, that I am a paid promoter of the book; however, I assure you that I am only providing you with resources that I honestly, personally believe will be helpful for you!

Best,
Hannah

I just started this book. It appears to be more accessible and creative than others I've read on this subject. It has instructions for focusing attention during conversations, which is different. The discipline of a daily practice has been a problem for me, this book might help.

Toward that end, I'm taking a Coursera course on Buddhism and Modern Psychology that starts tomorrow, taught by our friend Robert Wright.
